Rev 1:1 – 5:14; 12:1-12; Rapture and Heaven and Rewards

From 1:1 to 1:20 the Seer is on the earth, looking at the vision of Christ. From 2:1 to 3:22 he is on the earth listening and writing about the church-age. From 4:1 through 7: he is in the spirit viewing heaven and all the church-age with the 5 seals happening while the church-age is happening. From 8: through the end of Revelation he is looking at the vision and observing and recording things happening in heaven and on earth. (Scofield:Page 1331; introductory commentary to Revelation, and Mine)

All of the events move toward one consummation, the bringing in of the covenanted kingdom of God. The revelation to John is prophecy, from God, signified by His angel, and the seven Spirits which are before His throne, to John to be delivered to the seven churches. (Scofield:Page 1330; introductory commentary to Revelation, and Mine)

Most people agree the command to John to, ‘Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and things which shall be hereafter;’ are clearly identified by the presentation of events described. I. Things which, ‘thou has seen’, i.e. the Patmos vision 1:1-20. II. Things present, ‘the things which are,’ i.e. things then existing—obviously the churches……. ‘things which shall be hereafter’, lit. ‘after these.’ i.e. after the church period ends. 4:1-22:21.’, there are many explanations which seem to confuse the saints and causes some disagreements. (Scofield:Page 1330; introductory commentary to Revelation, and Mine)

There are Parenthetical passages, seven churches, seven seals, seven trumpets, seven vials (bowls), two witnesses, four alleluias, 3 woes….and concurrent passages. ‘Looking backward and forward they sum up results accomplished, and speak of results yet to come as if they had already come.’ (Scofield:Page 1330; introductory commentary to Revelation; 1996; and Mine)

The Parenthetical passages and verses of prophecy in the Old Testament are a precedent for arranging the verses of Revelation in this way. For example: You find Genesis 2 is a Parenthetical to Genesis 1. You find a prophecy of Christ in Isaiah 9:6; [For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.], which seems out of context when you are reading that chapter, yet there it is.

Note: I have used different versions on the ‘Blue Letter Bible’ web page to copy and paste into this book. I have not identified which version I used, but usually the versions used are KJV, NKJV, ESV, J.B. Philips and sometimes Darby. (http://www.blueletterbible.org/) Christ’s words are in red. My own words are in Green. The text following the verse is what I choose to point out in that verse. The scriptures following that text are verses about that subject. Curiosity! I want to know what Christ and heaven look like. I desire to know what it will be like. ‘For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.’ Rom 8:22

Rev 1:16; (Christ) has in His right hand, seven stars,…..

Rev 1:20; The mystery is explained to be – seven stars are the ** angels(7 stars) of the seven churches (7 lampstands), and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

Rev 2:1; – Christ holds the 7 stars (7 angels) in His right hand and walks in the midst of the 7 lampstands (7 churches)

Rev 5:6; – And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

**1 Cor 6:2: Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters. Emphasis Mine: ‘…the saints shall judge the world?’

Perhaps the 7 angels = 7 stars, will carry the 7 bowls of judgment. (In any case, the 7 angels are all live with Christ in eternity. Warnings to the 7 angels are necessary, because, ‘all we like sheep have gone astray.’ (Not one of them failed so miserably they didn’t make it to live with Christ eternally, and that comforts me.)

7 lamps of fire, 7 horns, 7 eyes = Christ = the Lamb = the 7 spirits of God:

7 stars = 7 angels of the 7 churches

7 lampstands = 7 churches

Col 1:17; And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. = Emmanuel

Lamb looked slain, having 7 eyes 7 horns = which are the 7 spirits of God, (5:6) = 7 lamps of fire (4:5) = 7 lampstands = 7 churches = Zech 4:10 they [are] the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.) = Christ (3:1) Note: If the 7 stars = 7 angels, would these = 7 angels of Rev 15:1

Jer 23:5,6 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this [is] his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Jer 33:14-16,22 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this [is the name] wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

Col1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

(Isa 55:4 “Behold, I made Him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples.

Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,”

Col1:14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Titus 3:5-6; He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior)

(Washed us: John 3:5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

John 4:10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 15:3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Jer 2:13for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Jer 7:13O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame; those who turn away from you* shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living water.

Eze 36:25I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Heb 10:22let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.)

Kingdom of Priests

Christ has made us priests to His God and Father.

Ex 19:6; “and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

Isa 61:6; but you shall be called the priests of the Lord; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.

1 Pet 2:5,9-10; you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not apeople, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Rev 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. Isa 40:5 45:23; Zech 12:10; Matt 24:30-31; John 19:37; Acts 1:9-11; Rom 14:11; Phil 2:10-11;

Every eye will see Him

Isa 40:5; “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isa 45:23; “By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’ ”

Zech 12:10; “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.”

Matt 24:30-31;“Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

John 19:37; And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

Acts 1:9-11; And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Rom 14:11; For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Phil 2:10-11; so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

Jer 6:17; Also I set watchmen over you, [saying], Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Jer 51:27; Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

Scofield, C. I. “Scofield Reference Notes on Revelation 1”. “Scofield Reference Notes (1917 Edition)”. <http://www.studylight.org/com/srn/view.cgi?book=re&chapter=001>. 1917.

See Scofield, note 3 (1:20) the last sentence. ‘Most conclusively of all, these messages do present an exact foreview of the spiritual history of the church, and in this precise order. Ephesus gives the general state at the date of the writing; Smyrna, the period of the great persecutions; Pergamos, the church settled down in the world, “where Satan’s throne is,” after the conversion of Constantine, say, A.D.316. Thyatira is the Papacy, developed out of the Pergamos state: Balaamism (worldliness) and Nicolaitanism (priestly assumption) having conquered. As Jezebel brought idolatry into Israel, so Romanism weds Christian doctrine to pagan ceremonies. Sardis is the Protestant Reformation, whose works were not “fulfilled.” Philadelphia is whatever bears clear testimony to the Word and the Name in the time of self-satisfied profession represented by Laodicea.’

Mine: There are some very disturbing remarks by our Lord Jesus Christ to these angels. Things that are heart wrenching. He says ‘..I have somewhat against thee..’, ‘…I know thy works….’, ‘I have a few things against thee..’, ‘…I have not found thy works perfect before God.’, ‘..so then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.’

I believe it is that we are blameless in Christ, but because we are still here in the flesh, in spiritual warfare every minute, practicing walking in the Spirit, persevering, we must be admonished, warned, and encouraged.

Chapters 1-7 are all about the church age with chapters 4,7, 12 and 13 being Parentheticals.

The beginning of the creation of God – Is this pertaining to Jesus Christ? Was Christ the/(or ‘in the’) beginning of the creation of God?

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Col 1:15-20, 26-27; Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, [I say], whether [they be] things in earth, or things in heaven.

[Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

5th Seal The Rapture Rev 6:7-9;

John describes every thing he sees in detail and does not tell us what Christ and the Father says to us when we arrive?

Chapters 4 -7 are happening in heaven as there are happenings on earth. Chapter 12 is a Parenthetical, a spiritual glance of Israel, Christ, the Great Red Dragon Satan being cast to earth for his last 7 years before the millennium. Chapter 7 is like chapter 12 in that it glimpses the entire church age through the Rapture and sealing of the saints foreheads and given garments. Finish off with the singing of praise to God.

Isaiah and Ezekiel also saw many of the same things John is seeing in his vision. A throne, someone sitting on the throne, his description including the rainbow, lightnings, living creatures with wings; But, John also saw 24 thrones with 24 elders sitting on them, clothed in white robes with crowns of gold, seven lamps of fire burning before the throne which are the seven Spirits of God, the four creatures also had eyes in front and back, they worship God saying “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”

Chapter 5: Continuing with the scene in heaven, John sees a scroll in the right hand of ‘One who sat on the throne’. He sees the scroll, the living creatures, the Lamb, 7 Spirits of God, hears Singing, sees the Kings and Priests of God (which is us), and ten thousand times ten thousand and thousand of thousands of angels, worshipping the Lamb. While in Chapter 6 he sees the scene on earth as the 5 seals are opened, which I believe are happening at the same time as the church age is happening.

If Chapter 4 verse 1 is ‘the rapture’, because the words ‘Come up here’ are used the same words are used in Rev 11:12. ‘Come out of her’ is used in 18:4;

{(Scofield, page 1334, referencing Rev 4:1, note 2 ‘This call seems clearly to indicate the fulfillment of 1 Thes 4:14-17. {(For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.)

Chapter 4 – John is taken into heaven and he gets to see the Lord, sitting on His throne, the Lamb, who is Emmanuel, appears as a Lamb and has prevailed to open the 7 seals. John is instructed to write down everything he sees and hears. The Lamb opens the seals. I believe each seal represents a period of time that happens at the same time as the Church ages. An exact foreview of the spiritual history of the church and what happens to the world at the same time. John goes on to describe heaven, souls saved, and the ‘seal’ on their foreheads, the ‘garments’ they are given, through Rev 7:14; ‘So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

Chapter 6 verses 9-12, we are raptured and we are told: ‘When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.’ (Isa 26:21 ‘until the indignation be overpast’. Note: which means the wrath of God.)

Rev 4:1 AFTER these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” Isa 26:19-21; 27:1,13; (See Rev 6:9-11; 18:4)

Rapture (?)

Isa 26:19-21; 27:1,13; Thy dead [men] shall live, [together with] my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew [is as] the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea.

And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Rev 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Eze 1:26; 10:1;

Eze 1:26-27; And above the firmament that [was] over their heads [was] the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne [was] the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

Eze 10:1; Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

Rev 4:4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. Rev 4:4,10; 5:8,14; 11:16; 19:4; (3:5; 3:18; 4:4; 6:11; 7:9,13,14; 15:6; 19:8,14; Ex 28:2; Lev 16:4; Isa 61:10; Dan 7:9)

24 thrones, 24 elders,

(white robes)

(Ex 28:2; And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.

Lev 16:4; He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these [are] holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and [so] put them on.

Isa 61:10; I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels.

Dan 7:9; I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.)

Rev 4:5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Rev 1:4,12,16,20; 2:1; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6; 15:1,7;

7 lamps of fire = 7 spirits of God

Rev 4:6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. Rev 4:6-8; 5:6,8; Isa 6:1-3; Eze 1:5-28; 10:9;

4 living creatures

Isa 6:1-3; In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Eze 1:5; Also out of the midst thereof [came] the likeness of four living creatures. And this [was] their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

Eze 10:9; And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels [was] as the colour of a beryl stone.

Rev 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. Rev 4:6-8; 5:6,8; Eze 1:5; 10:14;

4 living creatures (lion, calf, man, eagle)

[Ezekiel – cherub, man, lion, eagle

Rev – calf, man, lion, eagle]

Eze 10:14; And every one had four faces: the first face [was] the face of a cherub, and the second face [was] the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

Rev 4:8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

Holy, holy, holy,

Lord God Almighty,

Who was and is and is to come!” Rev 4:6-8; 5:6,8; Isa 6:2,3; Eze 1:5-11; 10:12-14; (Rev 1:4,5,8,11,17; 2:8; 4:8; 21:6; 22:13; Isa 41:4; 44:6; 48:12)

Each of them has 6 wings

Rev 4:9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,

Rev 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: Rev 4:4,10; 5:8,14; 11:16; 19:4;

24 elders

(MINE: There is a lot of assuming that these elders have received their rewards, thus crowns, and they willingly cast them back to God. I believe this has nothing to do with rewards, but crowns, and I just don’t think they are casting rewarded crowns back as worship, but crowns that they take off and place at the feet of the victorious King. I just don’t see enough evidence from scripture to assume these crowns represent rewards. It is just a silly notion some have made. Telling us someone here on earth will receive crowns for ‘rewards’ gives a ‘puffed up’ self-righteous look to what rewards are anyway.

Rev 22:12 When He comes his reward is with Him. Read Matthew 20:1, this is what ‘Reward’ means.

No one knows who the 24 elders are and there is nothing in scripture that identifies them. If the 24 elders are the disciples and the 12 tribes of Jacob then, I also am curious to know if John is one of the 24 elders sitting there and at the same time telling what he saw. Granted he is very modest.) Matt 19:28; “And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” Ref. to the 12 Apostles; (also Lk 22:30) This is just not convincing enough evidence to conclude these 24 elders are any of the apostles.

Rev 4:11 You are worthy, O Lord,

To receive glory and honor and power;

For You created all things,

And by Your will they exist and were created.”

Chapters 4 ,5 and 6 are happening in heaven.

Rev 5:1 AND I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.

Scroll with 7 seals

Rev 5:2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”

Rev 5:3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

Rev 5:4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.

Rev 5:5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” Rev 5:5; 7:5; 22:16; Isa 4;2; 9:7; 11:1,10; Jer 23:5; Eze 37:24-25; Zech 3:8-10; 6:12-15; Rom 10:1-4; 11:7-8; 15:12;

Note: 8/14/08 – I just realized that if the 1st Seal is opened in the 1st Church age then this chapter should be interspersed with Chapter 2,3 and even Chapter 6. Just like the 6th and 7th seals, trumpets and bowls happening simultaneously so should the 1st through the 5th seals with the 7 church ages. Of course ‘IF’ I am completely in error about these seals it won’t matter anyway. So I shall continue………….

Isa 4:2; In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth [shall be] excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

Isa 9:7; Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isa 11:1,10; And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

“And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.”

Jer 23:5; Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

Eze 37:24-25; And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, [even] they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David [shall be] their prince for ever.

Zech 3:8-10; Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they [are] men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone [shall be] seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

Zech 6:12-15;And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name [is] The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. And they [that are] far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And [this] shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.

Rom 10:1-4; 11:7-8; Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ [is] the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

11:7-8 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

15:12; And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

Rev 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Rev 1:4,12,16,20; 2:1; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6; 15:1,7; Zech 4:2,10,11; (4 livingcreatures Rev 4:6-8; 5:6,8; Isa 6:1-3; Eze 1:5-28; 10:9)

Lamb looked slain, 7 eyes 7 horns = 7 spirits of God,

(7 lamps of fire, 7 eyes, 7 horns = 7 spirits of God, verses 4:5 and 5:6)

Zech 4:2And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all [of] gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which [are] upon the top thereof:

10For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel [with] those seven; they [are] the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. 11Then answered I, and said unto him, What [are] these two olive trees upon the right [side] of the candlestick and upon the left [side] thereof?

(Isa 6:1-3; In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Eze 10:9; And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels [was] as the colour of a beryl stone.)

Rev 5:7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

Lamb takes scroll

Rev 5:8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. Isa 6:2,3 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.

And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood

Christ has made us priests to His God and Father

Ex 19:6; “and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

Isa 61:6; but you shall be called the priests of the Lord; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.

1 Pet 2:5, 9-10; you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not apeople, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy

Rev 5:11Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,

Thousands of angels

Rev 5:12saying with a loud voice:

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain

To receive power and riches and wisdom,

And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Rev 5:13And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

Blessing and honor and glory and power

Be to Him who sits on the throne,

And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Rev 5:14Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever. Rev 4:4,10; 5:8,14; 19:4;

Chapter 12 is a Parenthetical, a spiritual glance of Israel, Christ, the Great Red Dragon Satan being cast to earth for his last 7 years before the millennium. The Great Red Dragon Satan trying to kill the Promise, the Secret of God. The spiritual warfare that is going on. I have placed Rev 12:1 through 12:12 to precede the opening of the 1st seal of God’s wrath because it is occurring at the same time as the church age and the 1st seal through 5th seal. (Rev 6:1)

A prophecy of Israel becoming a nation again, the Saviour being resurrected, the victory of Christ’s Rapture of His people, and the devil being cast down to earth, knowing ‘that he has a short time’.

Dan 11:35

the time of the end Here the prophetic foreview, having traced the history of the two parts of Alexander’s empire which had to do with Palestine and the Jews, viz. Syria and Egypt, to the time of Antiochus Epiphanes, and having described his career, overleaps the centuries to “the time of the end,” when he of whom Antiochus Epiphanes was a type, the “little horn” of Daniel 7:8 the “Beast out of the sea” of Revelation 13:4-10 shall appear (cf) (See Scofield “Daniel 7:8“) . Prophecy does not concern itself with history as such, but only with history as it affects Israel and the Holy Land. Antiochus Epiphanes was insignificant as compared with historical personages whom the Bible does not mention, but he scourged the covenant people and defiled God’s altar, thus coming into prophetic light. From verse 36 the “little horn” of Daniel 7:8,24-26 fills the scene. His prosperity lasts until “the indignation” (the “time of trouble” of ; Daniel 12:1; Matthew 24:21 is accomplished (Daniel 11:36). This is parallel with ; Revelation 17:10-14; 19:19-21. Daniel 11:37-45 supply details not mentioned in the N.T. The expression “God of his fathers” (Daniel 11:37) has been held to indicate that the “king” is an apostate Jew, but this does not accord with Daniel 9:26 which was fulfilled by the Gentile armies of Rome. The “little horn” is an apostate, but from Christianity, not Judaism (cf) 1 John 2:18,19. (IT OCCURRED TO ME: ‘THE GOD OF HIS FATHERS’ COULD JUST AS WELL MEAN – HIS MUSLIM FATHERS! ALLAH!)– Daniel 11:38-45 describe his career. Substituting “the god of forces” (i.e. forces of nature) (RIGHT NOW I WOULD SAY ‘THE GOD OF ATOM BOMB’ OR ‘NUCLEAR BOMB’) for the true God (Daniel 11:38,39), he soon presents himself as that god (cf) 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4. (HE BELIEVES HE IS GOD) While his career lasts he is an irresistible conqueror (Daniel 11:40-44). He established his palace in Jerusalem, probably at the time of his supreme act of blasphemous impiety; (HE WANTS JERUSALEM) Daniel 9:27; 12:11; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:4. From this time begins; Revelation 13:5. Scofield Revelation 19:20“.

Rev 12:1 NOW a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Chuck Smith Revelation 10-12 (C2000 Series) The Blue Letter Bible online. The identity of the woman is found in Genesis 37:9, as we read of the dream of Joseph, how the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to him and so the same figure here. We have the identity of the woman as the nation of Israel, those twelve tribes that came out of Jacob.

A Woman

Rev 12:2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. Isa 26:17; 66:7;

Isa 26:17; Like as a woman with child, [that] draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, [and] crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.

Isa 66:7; Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? [or] shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

Rev 12:3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. Rev 9:2,11; 11:7; 12:3,7,9,13; 13:1; 17:3,8,16; 19:20; 20:2,3,10;

Great Red Dragon – 7 heads, 10 horns, 7 crowns

Rev 12:4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

1/3 of stars swept away

Dan 8:10 It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them.

Fallen angels. Two classes of these are mentioned: (1) “The angels which kept not their first estate place, but left their own habitation,” are “chained under darkness,” awaiting judgment. 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6; 1 Corinthians 6:3; John 5:22. (See Scofield “Genesis 6:4“) (2) The angels who have Satan Genesis 3:1 as leader. (See Scofield “Revelation 20:10“) . The origin of these is nowhere explicitly revealed. They may be identical with the demons. (See Scofield Matthew 7:22 “For Satan and his angels everlasting fire is prepared. Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10

Gen 6:4 Scofield Commentary Some hold that these “sons of God” were the “angels which kept not their first estate” Jude 1:6. It is asserted that the title is in the O.T. exclusively used of angels. But this is an error Isaiah 43:6. Angels are spoken of in a sexless way. No female angels are mentioned in Scripture, and we are expressly told that marriage is unknown among angels. Matthew 22:30.

The uniform Hebrew and Christian interpretation has been that verse Genesis 6:2 marks the breaking down of the separation between the godly line of Seth and the godless line of Cain, and so the failure of the testimony to Jehovah committed to the line of Seth Genesis 4:26. For apostasy there is no remedy but judgment ; Isaiah 1:2-7,24,25; Hebrews 6:4-8; 10:26-31. Noah, “a preacher of righteousness,” is given 120 years, but he won no convert, and the judgment predicted by his great- grandfather fell ; Jude 1:14,15; Genesis 7:11.

Rev 12:5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Rev 2:27; Dan 7:14; 1 Cor 2:7-8;

The Child

c. She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.

a. A male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: Clearly, this refers to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. He rules the world with a rod of iron (Psalm 2 and Revelation 19:15).

b. She bore a male Child refers to Jesus’ birth. Rule all nations with a rod of iron refers to the triumphant return of Jesus. By stating the “bookends” of Jesus’ earthly work, John alludes to all that stands in between.

b. “After a conflict with the Prince of this world, who came and tried Him, but found nothing in Him, the Son of the woman was taken up to heaven and sat on the right hand of God. Words can hardly be plainer than these.” (Alford)

c. This male Child is obviously Jesus. This means that the woman of Revelation 12:1 cannot be the church, because Jesus “gives birth” to the church, not the other way around. The woman must therefore either be Mary or Israel, the only two “women” who could have “given birth” to Jesus. The rest of Revelation 12 will demonstrate that this woman is Israel, not Mary.
