Europe’s banks are staring into the abyss

By Jeremy Warner

Rev 9:1And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from
heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2And
he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the
smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of
the smoke of the pit. 3And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth:
and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4And
it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither
any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal
of God in their foreheads. – KJV

Rev 9:1 THEN the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit.  (See Rev 1:18; is this the same key?)

5th Trumpet  – 1st Woe Rev 9:2

Key to bottomless pit

Rev 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Rev 9:2,11; 11:7; 12:3,9,13; 13:1; 17:3,8; 19:20; 20:3,10; (Isa 13:10; 24:17; Eze 32:7,8; Joel 2:30-32; Zech 14:6-7)

1st Woe – 5th Trumpet Rev 9:1

The Bottomless Pit Opened

(sun and air darkened)

Isa 13:10; For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Isa 24:17; Fear, and the pit, and the snare, [are] upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

Eze 32:7,8; And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.

Joel 2:30-32; And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Zech 14:6-7; And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the light shall not be clear, [nor] dark: But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, [that] at evening time it shall be light.

Rev 9:3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.  Isa 24:17; Nahum 3:17;

Locusts That Have Power

Isa 24:17; Fear, and the pit, and the snare, [are] upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

Nahum 3:17; Thy crowned [are] as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they [are].

Rev 9:4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Isa 24:17; Nahum 3:17;

No Seal of God on Forehead = No Protection

Rev 9:5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. Isa 24:17; Nahum 3:17;

5 months of torment

Rev 9:6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

Men will seek death but will not find it.

Rev 9:7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.  Joel 2:4-5; Nahum 3:17-18;

Locusts like horses, with crown, faces of men

Joel 2:4-5The appearance of them [is] as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

Nahum 3:15,17; Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell [in the dust]: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth [them]. 17Thy crowned [are] as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they [are].

Rev 9:8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.

Long hair, lions teeth

Rev 9:9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. Rev 9:17; Jer 50:42; Joel 2:4-5;

Breastplates of Iron, Wings

Jer 50:42;They shall hold the bow and the lance: they [are] cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, [every one] put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

Joel 2:4-5The appearance of them [is] as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

Rev 9:10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings intheir tails. Their power was to hurt men five months.

Tail like scorpion, with sting – 5 months

Rev 9:11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon. Rev 9:2,11; 11:7; 12:3,9,13; 13:1; 17:3,8,16; 19:20; 20:3,10; Job 26:6;

A King “The Destroyer” in English

Note: I was doing this study when Israel was attacked by Hezbullah in the year 2006 and it came over the news, a statement from Israel calling Nazrallah, the “destroyer of Lebanon”. He is the leader of Hezbullah,. It was powerful. It seemed like the time when the leader Caiaphas said:  “that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.”John 11:50; John 18:14; How insignificant that statement seemed, and how many even heard it. John recorded it and was probably there when he heard it. He knew it was a significant, powerful statement.

Job 26:6; “Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.” (ESV)

Rev 9:12 One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things. Rev 11:13,14;

1st Woe is passed
